Wale featuring Lady Gaga - Chillin
(Directed by Chris Robinson)
In an era when critics and rappers themselves jump to declare the death of hip hop, 23 year-old Wale Folarin has been breathing new life into the genre through dazzling wordplay, a fresh sound steeped in DC's legendary go-go scene, and boundless on-stage energy. 2006 saw Wale conquer DC, Maryland and Virginia with a slew of original radio hits and electrifying shows that solidified his buzz in the Mid-Atlantic. 2007 has been even brighter, with Wale garnering press in The Fader, The New York Times, The Boston Globe, Entertainment Weekly, The Washington Post, The Source, Vibe, Complex, HipHopGame.com, AllHipHop.com, a news piece on MTV and even the cover of URB, all without a major label deal. With heavy radio rotation in DC, Maryland and Virginia, along with mixshow spins on both costs, Wale has sold out shows in LA, New York, San Francisco, Philly and Atlanta. Wale took the European music festival circuit by storm, touring with world-famous DJ and superproducer Mark Ronson (Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen) in 2007. The response was so great, Wale ended up signing a production deal with Ronson's Allido Records. With well over 2 million plays on MySpace, Wale is an organic hip hop and lifestyle phenomenon, and the release of his third and most widely-distributed mixtape, 100 MILES AND RUNNING (30,000+ downloads since July), has taken his global buzz to new heights. Top streetwear label 10Deep has come on as a sponsor of 100 MILES mixtape as well as future apparel collaborations. Starr African Rum, The Hundreds, LRG, Stussy, Jordan Brand and Nike have all co-signed Wale, and he was recently tapped to participate in a free Nike Boot concert along with Lil Wayne in DC sponsored by Nike and Footaction. Wale was also contributed to the album commemorating the 40th anniversary of BBC's Radio 1. Every once in a while an artist comes along and completely changes the game: Jay-Z, Nelly, Pharrell, Kanye West. Wale's got next.

Meg & Dia Take Action tour @ House of Blues
Warner Bros. Records’ recording artists Meg & Dia will release their second album, titled Here, Here and Here, April 21st on Warner Bros. Records. Fans will be able to pre-order the album from the band’s website, www.MegandDia.com, beginning today and will receive an autographed copy of the album insert along with an early download of “Agree to disagree,” (GarageBand demo). Here, here and here was written and recorded with producer Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, All American Rejects). Over the course of its 13 brand-new studio tracks (written entirely by sisters Meg and Dia Frampton), the album chronicles the past few years in the life of this hardworking band, which is made up of Meg (guitar, vocals), Dia (lead vocal), Nick Price (drums), Carlo Gimenez (guitar), and Jonathan Snyder (bass). Here, here and here also showcases Meg & Dia’s growing ability to express themselves musically by incorporating new instrument arrangements and a new pool of lyrical influences, as well as honing in on their distinctive brand of pop-rock.
Meg & Dia are currently on the road for an extensive tour, giving fans a taste of what’s to come by performing songs from here, here and here, as well as old favorites from their debut album Something Real, including the fan fave singles “Monster” and “Roses.” On a marathon tour for the last two and half years in support of Something Real, Meg & Dia launched their first headlining tour last September after a series of high-profile dates with Angels & Airwaves (fronted by former Blink-182 vocalist-guitarist Tom Delonge). In 2007 the band joined the Vans Warped Tour, playing on Hurley.com stage for the entire tour.

Magic’s a Drag

“Magic’s a Drag” starring Cashetta, the Queen of Magic, opens Feb. 21 at
the Harmon Theater
Feb. 2, 2009 (LAS VEGAS) — Add one part Bette
Midler, a dash of Dolly Parton and mix with the talents of David Copperfield and
poof! you have “Magic’s a Drag” starring Cashetta, the Queen of Magic. “Magic’s a
Drag” opens Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Harmon Theater.
Cashetta gives magic a fabulous makeover as one of the only female impersonator
magicians in the world. Her act includes cards that disappear and reappear in
unlikely places and a gypsy rope illusion that rivals Harry Houdini’s famous escapes
— with a twist. She even teaches an audience member, dressed in drag, to perform
an illusion. And just wait to see what she does with a five-foot balloon. Cashetta
relies heavily on her interaction with her audience, pulling them on stage to help
with her illusions. The atmosphere is more of a party than a show.
Cashetta, aka Scott Weston, has headlined at the Crown & Anchor in Provincetown,
Mass., for the past three seasons, at Cinema Paradiso in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.,
Caroline’s Comedy Club on Broadway, Windstar Cruise Lines, Atlantis Events and
tours internationally with her one “woman” show.
“Magic’s a Drag” replaces the highly successful “Lucky Cheng’s Dinner Caberet,”
which ends its three-year engagement at the Harmon Theater on Feb. 14.
Tickets: $44.95 plus tax and processing fee for general admission
$59.95 plus tax and processing fee for VIP, which includes an all-you-can-drink

Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art Presents "Classic Contemporary: Lichtenstein, Warhol & Friends"
New Exhibition in Partnership with Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego Debuts January 23, 2009
LAS VEGAS – Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art (BGFA) is pleased to announce the debut of “Classic Contemporary: Lichtenstein, Warhol & Friends” January 23, 2009. Organized in partnership with the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (MCASD), the exhibition will feature important paintings and sculpture by major contemporary artists with a focus on the 1960s and ’70s.
This exhibition will mark a transition by BGFA to showcase the next generation of artists beyond the late 19th and early 20th century masterworks found in previous displays. As the gallery moves forward with future programming, it is extraordinary partnerships such as the one forged with MCASD which will provide BGFA with the opportunity to exhibit important works of art throughout history.
“Working with MCASD and having the opportunity to present such incredible works of art, has been a phenomenal experience for BGFA,” said MGM MIRAGE Curatorial Advisor Michele C. Quinn. “We are excited about this chance to bridge the gallery’s past exhibitions with future ones while still being true to the core of BGFA’s mission of showing only the best.”
“Classic Contemporary: Lichtenstein, Warhol & Friends” will include many of the major works in MCASD’s collection, primarily large-scale paintings along with sculpture and works on paper. The iconic artists to be featured were the leaders of their generation – Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Frank Stella, Ellsworth Kelly, Sol LeWitt and Ed Ruscha, among others. Their innovative use of material and imagery was at the forefront of Pop Art and Minimalism worldwide.
Masterworks on display will include Frank Stella’s “Sabra III” (1967), strikingly decorative, monumental canvas sections derived from the lines of a mechanical protractor curve; Roy Lichtenstein’s “Mirror” (1971), a deadpan depiction of a mirror’s surface that preposterously reflects its own schematized representation; and Sol LeWitt’s “Floor Piece #4” (1976), one in a series of compositions based on the cube, his fundamental modular unit. Classic examples of Abstract Expressionism by Hans Hofmann and Clyfford Still, precursors to the ’60’s movements, also will be on view.
Dr. Hugh M. Davies, The David C. Copley Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, said, “MCASD is extremely pleased to have this opportunity to showcase the depth and quality of its collection to new audiences through this partnership with Bellagio.”
“Classic Contemporary: Lichtenstein, Warhol & Friends” will be on view January 23, 2009 through Sept. 8, 2009. Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art is open Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Last admissions are sold 30 minutes prior to closing.
Admittance is $15 for general admission, $12 for Nevada residents and seniors 65 and older, $10 for students, teachers and military with valid ID. Children 12 and younger are free. Tickets and information are available by calling (702) 693-7871 or (877) 957-9777, or online at www.bellagio.com or www.ticketweb.com. Audio tours are included in the price of admission. Located adjacent to the gallery, The Gallery Store offers limited edition works of art as well as a wide selection of prints, books, stationery and unique gifts.
About Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art
Located at the heart of the elegant Bellagio resort, Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art is Las Vegas’ premier exhibition space – where great art goes on vacation. About Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego

MCASD is known for collecting works by promising emerging artists and under-recognized mid-career artists, as well as by major figures in contemporary art. Among the greatest strengths of the MCASD collection are Minimalism and Pop Art of the 1960s and ’70s, conceptual art from the 1960s to the present, installation art, Latin American art, and art from California and the San Diego/Tijuana region.

Restaurant guru and UNLV prof Adam Carmer is a world-class foodie and sommelier who led top restaurants at Strip resorts all through the Vegas gourmet boom.
Not long ago, Carmer hung up his tux and premiered Adam's Ribs, right next to local favorites, Freakin' Frog and The Whisky Attic, on Maryland Parkway near Tropicana, facing UNLV. Adam's is the most-talked-about barbeque joint in the Vegas Valley. And, Carmer's just begun.
Already, his second Adam's Ribs has come to life at Grand Canyon Center, near Flamingo and the 215 beltway. It's a smaller, quicker spot; serving the same fabulous, affordable barbeque, beer and wine, in a casual way that's perfect for a Summerlin lifestyle.
Tequila U, part of Adam's on Maryland, features the largest variety of tequilas in town, with hundreds on the shelf. Freakin' Frog delivers an unrivaled beer selection, great atmosphere and entertainment. Upstairs from there, The Whisky Attic provides a perfect, quiet spot to relax or do business. Together with Adam's Ribs, they make up Bone Apart Restaurant Group; signaling a new direction for Vegas locals tired of smoky slot pubs and boring, mediocre chain restaurants.
BARG is raising the bar; giving Las Vegans great local places to dine, drink and relax, just like they remember from LA, Philly and Chicago. ADam's Poker Attic was just added, and there's more on the horizon.
When he's not taking care of customers at his restaurants, or teaching some of UNLV's most popular classes (beer, wine and spirits) Adam spends every free minute with wife Jill and their three kids. Yes, Adam cooks at home.
